Hand-carved wooden eagle
This sculpture is hand-carved from a single block of solid teak, most often from a root whose shape the sculptor follows. Depending on the piece, the eagle is presented as a head-and-bust sculpture or as a full bird with folded wings, perched on the raw root. The wood's cavities and knots remain visible.
